Tryouts

HSJ is back for the 2023-2024 season!

This year we will creating teams for 13s through 18s, and our coaches are excited to start the year.  With the season starting in October, tryouts for all age groups will be Sunday September 17th and Sunday September 24th.  We strongly encourage your girls to attend both sessions to give our coaches the best opportunity to find a place for on our team.

Pre-season

A successful try out means we will offer positions to player to build out teams.  Commitment letters will be sent home to parents and players to review and respond within in one week.  As we start to fill out the roster of our teams, our coaches will begin planning for an exciting season.

Before it starts by mid-November, we will host a Coaches/Parents/Players meet and greet in October where we will try on jerseys and get to know each other ahead of the season.

The Season

We pride ourselves on the level of commitment of our girls and we try hard to strike a balance that works for families that want to stay near home.

Generally, the season runs from October 2023 thru May 2024.  Teams will practice two times each week.  Our teams generally practice on Wednesday night, Friday Night or Sunday.  As an example, our 13s and 14s may practice Friday night and Sunday during the day.  Schedules will be consistent week to week.

In addition to practices, we also offer opportunities for conditioning and jump training.  These sessions are run by are Director and are optional, but encouraged to help conditioning and keep the girls moving.

Outside of Practice, our club generally compete in 5 tournaments.  We only attend regional tournaments, and generally don't travel father than Buffalo or Syracuse.  Details of the actual tournament dates and schedules will be provided to families directly.

The Off Season

It's important to rest and relax from a great season, so June through September we do not have any commitments, as many of our coach's also love playing out on the beach!

In the past, we have held conditioning and jump training sessions where anyone is welcome, and also offer private lessons for those that want an extra edge.
